There is hardly anyone who plants a field without expecting a Harvest. Before the first seed ever touches the soil, the wise farmer counts the cost, prepares the ground, studies the season, and commits his time, strength, and resources with the expectation of a fruitful return.
Though he understands that growth is ultimately a process ordained by GOD, he also knows that Harvest never comes to the idle. Labour always precedes increase.
So it is in the Kingdom of GOD. The LORD of the Harvest is never casual in HIS approach, and neither should HIS labourers be. Every soul, every location, every season, and every assignment is intentionally orchestrated by GOD so that men might be gathered into HIS Kingdom.
Behind every visible harvest lies an unseen season of preparation. To appreciate this truth, we need only consider the life of the Apostle Paul.
Paul’s story reveals the precision of GOD’S divine strategy. Before his encounter with JESUS, he was consumed with destroying the Church, believing he was serving GOD by persecuting believers. Yet Heaven was already working behind the scenes.
The first mention of Saul appears during Stephen’s martyrdom (Acts 7:58), where he consented to the execution of a righteous man. Soon afterward, he relentlessly pursued believers from city to city. Unknown to him, every step was bringing him closer to his divine appointment on the road to Damascus.
GOD often positions HIS labourers near the very Harvest they are destined to reap before revealing the fullness of their assignment.
Preparation, however, did not end with Paul’s conversion. Harvest demands discipleship before deployment. Although Paul had been trained under Gamaliel, one of the most respected teachers of the Law, GOD still sent Ananias, an ordinary disciple, to minister to him (Acts 9). Ananias overcame fear through obedience, proving that faithful disciples become instruments through whom GOD prepares other labourers.
Discipleship refines character, renews perspective, and forms CHRIST within us. It removes pride, cultivates humility, and teaches dependence upon the HOLY SPIRIT.
Just as a farmer sharpens his sickle before entering the field, every labourer must be equipped through prayer, the study of Scripture, and continual fellowship with GOD. Prepared vessels become effective instruments in the Master’s hands.
Even our daily professions are not outside GOD’S purpose. Paul continued as a tentmaker (Acts 18), and his trade became a bridge for ministry and discipleship. Likewise, our workplaces, businesses, classrooms, and communities are training grounds where diligence, faithfulness, and excellence prepare us for greater Kingdom assignments. GOD wastes nothing.
Every experience, skill, and season can become part of HIS preparation for the Harvest. The Harvest may appear suddenly, but Heaven’s labour never begins suddenly. GOD prepares the labourer long before HE reveals the field.
Therefore, do not despise seasons of training, hiddenness, or ordinary responsibility. They are the workshop where the HOLY SPIRIT fashions vessels fit for the Master’s use.
Labour faithfully today, for every act of obedience is sowing toward tomorrow’s Harvest.
The hidden place is where GOD prepares the men HE intends to reveal. Before there is a public Harvest, there must first be a private altar; before the sickle is entrusted, the vessel must be fashioned in secret.
Do not be in haste to be seen when GOD is inviting you to be shaped.
The greatest Kingdom labourers are first forged in obscurity, where no applause is heard but the voice of the MASTER is clear. Therefore, embrace the hidden place of prayer, the hidden place of the Word, the hidden place of obedience, and the hidden place of faithful service.
For when the season of harvest arrives, those who have been prepared in secret will not struggle to bear fruit openly.
The fields are white already unto Harvest, but Heaven is still preparing labourers. Will you answer the call to the hidden place, where GOD fashions men before HE sends them?
