JESUS looked upon the multitude, But HE saw beyond the faces before HIM; HE saw souls, lives, destinies, and eternity, HE saw a Harvest waiting to be gathered. And HE was moved with compassion, For the Harvest was truly plenteous, The fields were wide, the souls were many, And the need was greater than the labourers.
Billions still walk upon the earth, Many have never heard the Gospel of CHRIST, Many have heard but have not yet believed, And many still search where satisfaction cannot be found.They are in our cities and schools,In our families, streets, offices, and neighbourhoods; They sit beside us and walk within our reach,Yet the Harvest is often hidden beneath familiar faces.
Sometimes the Harvest is our friend,Our classmate, colleague, neighbour, or brother; Sometimes the soul is already within our house, Yet we see the person and fail to see the soul. The Harvest is not merely a number, It has names, faces, stories, and destinies; Every soul carries an Eternal weight, And every life is precious before the LORD. Some are unreached and without access, Others have heard but remain far from believing; Yet whether without opportunity or without response, Both are in need of the saving CHRIST.
And while the harvest continues to increase, The MASTER’S word still confronts our generation: “The labourers are few,” The Harvest is not the problem—the labourers are. Many have received but few are giving, Many have been reached but few are reaching; Many have heard but few are speaking, Many are saved but few are labouring.
Where then are the labourers, Men whose hearts can carry the weight of souls? Where are those who will spend and be spent,For the advancement of the KING and HIS Kingdom? The world does not merely need more Christians, It needs men who will become faithful labourers; Men who will pray, go, speak, give, and disciple, Men who will make CHRIST known among the nations. “Pray ye therefore the LORD of the Harvest,” For the Harvest belongs to HIM and the burden is HIS; Yet perhaps while we ask HIM for labourers, HE is asking us to become the answer. Maybe your school is your Harvest, Maybe your family is the field entrusted to you; Maybe your workplace, street, or platform is your assignment, The field may be closer than you have ever imagined.
The Harvest is larger than our comfort, Larger than our plans and smaller circles; There are nations beyond our reach, Yet our prayers, giving, and obedience can send labourers there. There are souls we may never meet, Yet we can stand before GOD and carry them in prayer; There are fields we may never enter,Yet we can make it possible for another to go. The Harvest is plenteous, The need is urgent, the labourers are few;
May we never become too busy to notice, Nor too comfortable to enter the field. May fear never silence our witness, Nor distraction consume our allotted days;May excuses never become the language of our lives, When the MASTER has already given us the field.
LORD, open our eyes to see what JESUS sees, Give us the compassion that moved HIS heart; Let us feel the weight of souls as HE did, And let the sight of the Harvest move us to labour.
When the MASTER calls for labourers, May HE find our hands available and our hearts willing; May HE find us faithful within the field, Working until the Harvest is gathered. For the Harvest is great, The need is great, and the time is short; The field is already before us, And the call is still sounding: LABOUR.
LORD, make Me a labourer,
Not one who merely sees the Harvest from afar;
Let Me enter the field and spend My life for it,
Until that which CHRIST died to purchase is brought home.
